Music video: Heartstreets – cruising with you

Music video: Heartstreets – cruising with you

Shot over two days in two locations, this music video directed by Charlotte Ratel Zachary Lavertu show a who’s very passionate about music fall in love with a deaf girl. Slow vistas, emotional close ups and vibrant portraits shot by Christophe Dalpé.

The 4 different sets were treated independently. The range of the Alexa and the art direction helped a lot. The 2-tone lighting also did a wonderful job on the recorders and the portraits.

Here are some still from my grade.

Music video: Laurence Nerbonne MontrealXO

Right after Christmas I hopped on this project: a colourful music video for French-Canadian pop singer Laurence Nerbonne. This was the first single of her first solo album.

Shot entirely on a white cyclo washed with bleu and pink light, the music video is basically a 3min25sec dans choreography put together by Sarah Lefevre for 18 dancers. The video was directed by Julien Demers-Arsenault who also did the final set extensions in After Effects.

Shot on Alexa, this video was quickly graded once the two tones were accepted by the artist. Little had to be done on the skin tones as the blue and pink light were completely assumed by the director. I only had to soften some had lights and oversaturated costumes. It all gave a fun and full background without being neon-like.

It was graded in my studio on Resolve.

Music video: Coeur de Pirate – I Don’t Want to Break Your Heart

Music video: Coeur de Pirate – I Don’t Want to Break Your Heart

Here is another collaboration with Roméo & Fils, director Martin C. Pariseau and DP extraordinaire Jessica Lee Gagnée. I graded my third music video for Coeur de Pirate’s latest album. I Don’t Want to Break Your Heart is a great pop song featuring Allan Kingdon.

Shot on Alexa, the videos was shot on many sets, mostly dark ones. The goal was to make every place a little different while feeling we’re still in the same universe: a classic. We were able to bring out very nice tones by using practical lighting like the break lights of a car and the mercury bulbs in a tunnel.

Here are some still in high quality.

Music video: Crier tout bas by Coeur de Pirate

This is a color grading breakdown for “Crier tout bas”, the second single for the album ROSES by Coeur de Pirate.

It was shot on Alexa in 2K proves 4444 by Jessica Lee Gagné and directed by Kevin Calero for Romeo et Fils. The music video is now available on nowness.

Here is a color grading breakdown I did for some shots. Nothing technical but some clone tool effects to remove some unwanted pieces. I used Resolve’s key lock feature on some power windows and copied the content to fill the mask with another part of the image.

Music video: Philippe B “Nous irons jusqu’au soleil”

Music video: Philippe B “Nous irons jusqu’au soleil”

This is a nice music video I graded for Philippe B’s new single “Nous irons jusqu’au soleil”. It a nice piece featuring 10 dogs with theirvery own personality. The video that could, at first, relate to some other pieces like the popular “Island in the sun” by Weezer but goes beyond the cute animal cliche. There is a nice narrative touch in the edit and we understand the relation between the different dogs. We follow the hound from the deep bottom of a cavern to the freedom feel of the open wild. I suggest you watch until the last shot.

Music video: Blue Volvo by Loud Lary Ajust

Music video: Blue Volvo by Loud Lary Ajust

This is a nice little music video I worked on a couple weeks ago. Very low light result shot on Alexa. The deal was to stay as low key as possible while keeping come details.

The piece is part of Loud Lary Ajust‘ s latest album. It was shot in a day by DP Jessica Lee Gagné during a not so cold day of June so the team wasn’t freezing its a$$ in the water.

The footage was graded from scratch in DaVinci Resolve at my studio in July. It was a nice and quick gig. As the shots were captured across the day, water reflections and sky textures weren’t quite matching but some power windows here and there helped a lot.

Here are some before and after:
