I first began as a bassist in a punk band called LABEL. It pushed me toward the DIY scene and the technical side of music.  After College I went to a private school dedicated to teaching sound engineering.  After graduating, I got hired as a do-it-all man at Studio 408, a recording studio that also had a side business at printing CDs and DVDs.  That’s where I really got involved with video.  They had a Discreet EDIT* system and I had to edit music videos so I gave it a try.

It wasn’t long before I found a copy of Final Cut Pro 1 and started editing videos I shot with my Canon GL1 on a mac. And months later I was running the sound studio, the DVD duplicators and the edit suite.  To get more serious about my passion for video and jumped into the freelance world. I got gigs that quickly evolved from assistant-editor to  online editor and technical director.  It was during the big migration toward HD. I worked on a couple of tv series and commercials.

In 2007, I got hired as a full time technical director at Bureau de Post that later became SHED, a major post facility in Montreal specialized in high quality commecial work.  I had to manage Smoke, Flame and Lustre stations, many offline suites and integrate a whole 3D departement (XSI, Nuke). For five years I’ve been joggling with pixels, frame rates and formats.

In 2011 I finally got back to freelancing. I now work as head colorist and post supervisor at CineGround in Montreal. I also give DIT, Color Grading and digital formats classes at l’INIS. And while doing all this I volunteer as an administrator for the Montreal Creative Front (used to be called  Final Cut MTL).
