October is documentary month

October 2012 was a busy month.  Maybe because Montreal is hosting the RIDM (Rencontres international du documentaire de Montréal or International Documentary festival of Montreal) early november but I was swapped by requests to grade documentaries. I actually only two.  The first one is “Le Prix des mots”. It’s an immersive docu that brings you in the kafkaian world of the Canadian Justice system by following an indie book editor getting sued by an international mining company. Produced by MC2 and directed by Julien Fréchette, the movie will be presented on Nobember 9th.

The second one is a 72 minutes documentary directed by Marie-Claude Dupont who followed the parties in the 2012 presidential election in Burundy.  In “Demokarasi”, she gives an interesting look at the “democratic” process behind the contested elections.  It should be in theatres soon. I’ll let you know.
